Folks, I knew it was bad, but not this bad.

The most recent data released by the TSP show that 36.1 percent of active-duty military personnel are saving for their retirement through the 401(k)-type program. An additional 12.2 percent of the military reserves have joined the TSP.

As of April, 52 percent of Navy active-duty personnel were making contributions, along with 35.7 percent of the Marine Corps, 33.8 percent of the Air Force and 26.4 percent of the Army.

That percentage has 180-deg lockoff from what it should be. I know the concept of pre-tax money is hard to explain to some, but we as leaders owe it to our Sailors/Soldiers/Airmen/ Marines etc better. This is a shame on us all - especially when you consider how little Social "Security" is going to be there for this generation.

TSP is a good program for what it is. Even though I have been "working the market" on my own since the early 90's, I have maxed out TSP from day one. It's a no brainer extra security tool that too many are missing.

Does Obama really think the world will follow our lead in everything he proposes to do if president.

I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat systems, and I will institute an independent defense priorities board to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending. Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material, and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals. You know where I stand.
