The Fine Print

The Milblogs site has multiple authors. Unless otherwise credited, the opinions expressed are those of the specific author, and not the official position of any other contributor or any organization to which they belong, to include the United States Department of Defense or any of its subordinate components.

Comments and e-mails are welcome, but all such communication is to be assumed to be 1) the original work of any who initiate said communication and 2) in the public domain, with free use granted for publication in electronic or written form. GUIDELINES

MilBlogs is open to any blog operated by a current Active Duty, Guard or Reserve member of the US military. Veterans, spouses, or other close relatives of eligible participants are also welcome IF a significant amount of their content is devoted to military issues. Sites devoted to military issues but not operated by people in the above described categories may also be considered for membership. Non-blog web sites are also eligible if they meet the same criteria. Non military sites are not left out. You're invited to join our "Friends of MilBlogs" Blogroll. This however is not part of the Ring but a way to show your support.

One purpose of the MilBlogs Ring is to promote awareness of the individuality and humanity of the members of the US Armed Forces. Members are aware of the liklihood of difference of opinions between fellow members, and although we may not agree with each other on everything we say we will fight for the rights of each other to say it.

We mean that literally.

To join MilBlogs Ring fill out form at the MilBlog Ring Log In/Sign Up page. This will register you with Ringsurf. You should receive an email shortly therafter, with username and password info and ring code. We no longer have to provide complicated navigation code for members to place on their sites because of the new RingSurf viewer. When members signup or login they are now provided simplified code that you can place on your website. Once you have the proper code on your site and click activate your listing will show up in the MilBlog Ring owners queue to be approved by Mrs G. Once its approved (moved to members list) the new listing will show up in the ring.

Please Note:
Until the potential new member of a ring places the proper code on their site and activate it the site will not show up in the Ring owners queue. This is to minimize spam to the Ring Owners.

Also, Mrs G no longer has to check member sites to make sure they have proper RingSurf member code on their site. RingSurf checks for proper code at time of signup and on a random frequent schedule.

If a member removed the code from their site or if their site is not available to check then they will be removed and notified my email to put the code back on their site and reactivate their listing. At this point it will go back to the Ring Owner queue to move it back to members.

ATTENTION MEMBERS: if you joined before April 1, 2008 you need to create a new account in order to convert and manage your websites that are members of rings.

A new account must be created for all Ring Owners in order for them to manage their rings.

Ring Members have to create a new account and convert their listings to the new system only if they want to update their existing listings or want to join more rings.

Once you create your new account and login you will see instructions on how to convert your existing rings and websites that you manage to your new account.

You can go here to our Banner Page to pick out a banner [do a save as]. Once banner w/ link to MilBlog's home : (strong>http://www.mudvillegazette.com/milblogs) and html code that formulate the ring are in place, we can accept your membership. If you need help with this contact Mrs G (MilBlog Ring Manager)

Note: if Blogspot hosts your blog and you cannot upload pictures to your site go here for link to hosted MilBlog banner (default banner only). Bloggerbot hosts pics for blogger customers for free

The "roster" will be in random order

The webmaster will initially determine qualification of a site requesting inclusion on this ring. Once a sufficient number of members has been obtained a quorum can be used for review of any disputed applications. Said quorum will reach a decision by majority vote.

Additional rules can be developed as needed. But hey, this ain't the military, okay?
