James Alford he had a few months to live, after tests revealed his strange behavior and disappearing acts were caused by a disease that was ravaging his brain. The young Green Beret who outran everybody in life outran the odds too, living far longer than anyone expected. But a bout of pneumonia ended Alford's life on Monday. He was 30.
