I am at the point of NOT believing anything that any MSM affiliate discloses, but I must say that this account appears to reflect the reality we have now come to learn about Basrah.

The Mehdi Army butcher boys DID conduct a reign of terror for YEARS in that area and the Brits did almost nothing to stop them.

I find it therefore quite believable that the Brits did have an understanding with the goon-show to the effect that they would look the other way in return for not being attacked too much.

Shameful. I guess the UK really is all used up. At least in the 'good old days' when they made evil little deals such as this they were capable and willing to kick ass if the 'arrangement' was not working. Now it looks as if they just want to be left alone while pretending that they have a better idea. Same type of 'strategy' they have in the past employed in their area of Afghanistan to great effect.
