I assume the US Air Force would be flying air cover, filming the action and laughing their asses off.
Cordially,

Don't you know, that according to Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Code Pink, etc. supporting the troops means "bring our children home". Anything else means you want to see the troops heads blown off for you amusement.
The children don't know what's good for them, San Fran Gran knows better, she want's our kids home.
Ah, I don't think this message is reaching the Marines. Semper Fi.

At least they have separate mascots…

In this case the media coverage will be one sided - the Marines have all the cameras....

So...we need to ship them some paintballs and paintguns, and let them have at?

The war in Iraq is always going to be a fog, with no clear win or loose type of distinction. The enemy tends to be no where but at the same time is everywhere. When they show themselves we win the battles. That said comparing fallujah today to oct 04-05-06 its a clear win.I don't think I would have said leave the building up to the army, although they do have all the equipment and personel to accomplish that mission.I asked my nephew yrs ago why the hell did you want to be a marine? We are first in,we draw first blood and we set the pace of the battle.Semper Fi

That Marine should read a complete history of the battle for the city he is in that occured 3 years ago this month, and then tell us who breached the berm and led the attack into Fallujah...here's a hint it wasn't the USMC.
Yeah, yeah it's all in good fun, a little inter-service rivalry...but it all gets a little old after a while to this Soldier.

I admitt it, the army does have "special" units that fight very well. But they are "Special Units".
The USMC has intergrated all 3 levels of combat into One. Their basic enlistment goal is not college, or be all you can be but are you good enough. They are Assault Forces not garrison.
Apparently the top commanders think so too as the Marines are leaving Iraq and moving to Afghanistan.
I am sure the army can cope...

Not to take anything away from the Marines, because they are good guys, however.
I would put the following Army units -- which are not "special troops" up against anyone in the world:
First Infantry Division (Big Red One)
First Cavalry Division
Tenth Mountain Division
Note that these three divisions are not Airborne, Rangers, Special Forces, or Air Assault. They are line units. And they are damn good. And tough.
I don't think you can take much away from the Third Infantry Division (Rock of the Marne) or the Fourth Infantry Division (Ivy) either.
The Marines have their role. So does the Army. Take the best units from both and there is little to choose between them. I love them both.
