Well he is an ignorant putz. What he needed was to be beaten senseless and in a better time that is precisely what would have occurred. If not physically then certainly metaphorically. And that is the issue that truly concerns me about this situation.
If you and I and probably every one of your readers is perfectly well aware of the 'media' and its 'tendencies', then why are not the elected representatives also tuned in ? And PREPARED.
I understand being taken somewhat aback by the brazen hostility underlying such a putrid line of questioning, but if the boobish President of Iran can fight back when accosted by the President of Columbia, why did not Ms Blackburn attempt to tear this putz a new one ?
Did she think it beneath her 'dignity'?
Did she simply go into a state of shock ?
Or was she simply not prepared to or capable of putting a tendentious nasty clown in his proper place ?
Before we get a 'better' media, we need a 'better' political class. One that has both intellect and will to use it. Or absent that a comprehensive list of scathing 'relevant' responses to media assaults. A list that can be programmed into interviewees so that they can deal with these vile little creatures in the manner they truly deserve.
Sure the MSNBC comes across as a jerk, but Ms.Blackburn comes across as a 'wuss'. Frankly in politics, jerk is probably better.
In any 'war', you probably can't win merely by playing defense ALL THE TIME. Especially BAD DEFENSE.

A congressional category would have 535 ties for last place (not counting non-voting delegates).

In reading the interview with Col. Simcock, it's mentioned that it wasn't a Sen. John McCain photo op. I remember the big deal it was made at the time that John McCain wore a flak jacket. Big deal. There's places 20 miles from where I live (suburban Chicago) that he'd be well advised to wear a flak jacket.

Hell Greyhawk, there's enough Ignorant Media Putzes out there to fill a hall.
Cafferty, Blitzer, Amanpour and all the folks at CNN, Olberman and everyone else at PMSNBC, Williams, Lauer etc @NBC. Now start considering the dead tree media and you might need a stadium.

She should have known the name. I am sure she sent a letter of condolence to the soldier's family. The interviewer may have been a jerk but she should know the names of each of the soldiers who have given their all from her district.

Tutati - go read the linked article again. The fallen soldier was not actually from Rep. Blackburn's district at all. Not that it makes a difference in the jerkiness of the attacker.
That so-called journalist is a creep and a cretin to devise such a stupid attack. If the troop had been from her district, I am sure she would have known the name - but the attack was uncalled for.
