There is much truth to the idea that military success must be followed up with political progress if Iraq is to become a functioning democracy. But threatening to withdraw the military before the Iraq forces are ready to stand up on their own will doom, not encourage, a political solution.

If the politicians would meet their duties and responsibilties with a fraction of the dedication our troops do, we would all be much better off. That goes for the Iraqi pols as well!

I'm actually stunned... I thought I did see a formation of pigs flying earlier. I pray to God this is genuine praise and not just political posturing. Let's pray that the momentum started by our braves soldiers with "surge" is allowed to play itself out. Hold on "Dems" give our brave soldiers the support and time and we all can win in Iraq.
