Once upon a time, the Army, even TRADOC, had some minimal understanding of what the term "OPSEC" meant.
Still, it would be interesting to know if they expect the 88M's (or civilian drivers) to hop out of their rigs and start hunting terrorists.

Yeah. While I'm all for knowing how badass our troops are, I don't think it's a good idea to be publishing our Convoye ROE all over the net....

Fighting through an ambush is not a new idea. Neither is the concept of "gain and maintain contact"...
Frankly, I am a little embarrassed at the article's implication that these are new ideas for the Army and that this sort of training is the product of some new line of thinking. I hope that we have not become so wussified that gaining and maintaining contact represents a shift in tactical thought...

I'll be contrarian here. In the last few days we've seen a few messages being sent.
If you are kidnapping, for whatever reason, Iraqi Special Forces is going to show up, shooting first, asking questions later.
If you are planting IED's, and a predator see's you, you will get a missile up your back side.
Now, a new message, if you are taking potshots at a convoy, it will stop and hunt you down and kill you.
According to the laws of Islam, one should give the enemy fair warning.

I'd think that a few people would make different choices if they knew they'd be seriously engaged. I'm guessing that quite a few of them harass convoys because they know it's safe.
And the psych aspects... you ever notice how satisfied a dog looks when they chase a car out of their territory?

I believe this has been SOP for the Marines all along and has been very effective. I only wonder what took the Army so long to come around?

The Army was standing and fighting when I was there for OIF I, or at least my unit was, and we were combat heavy engineers (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and equipment operators). I think TRADOC is just now adjusting to what has actually been happening in the field.
