Last Saturday the New York Times offered good news to the people of Darfur:
The United Nations Security Council, acknowledging the failure of the current strategy for ending the carnage in Darfur, Sudan, agreed Friday to deploy thousands of peacekeepers to the troubled province. But yesterday they corrected themselves:
Because of an editing error, an article on Saturday about a plan to send United Nations peacekeeping troops to Darfur described imprecisely the action taken by the United Nations Security Council. The council agreed to begin the planning process to send the troops, with a final decision to come later.Just hang in there a few more years - help might be on the way.
Somehow I think those "thousands of peace keepers" will have shoulder patches with red and white stripes, along with an upper left corner of blue, with 50 stars. (Link)Posted by Soldier's Dad at February 7, 2006 08:27 PM
Uh oh, the UN is going to do something. I'm guessing that they will order up a strongly worded resolution.Posted by SSG_K at February 8, 2006 01:56 AM Hide Comments | Show/Add Comments in Popup Window(2) | (Note: You must refresh main page to view newly posted comments here)
