It should be noted that the Marines were the first to switch away from the BDU/DCU thing. When I was at Ft. Sill getting re-mob'd in Feb 2003, there were some Marines there going through training at the Artillery School wearing the new uniform.
The Air Force blue tiger stripes takes the award for the sillyist looking one though.
What did the Navy change? Are they putting the nametag on the other side of the butt for a change?

what's funny was, they didn't bother to paint the vehicles that were going over there this time. if they were tan, great, if they weren't, great. by the second sandstorm, they were all the same color.
all the Marines (just so happened to be close to them all the time) were sporting the new DCUs. what's odd is, because they are that color, they are going to be off color if they have to go into some green country. the Army version is really useful in most places, including desert and jungle.

SGT Jeff:
I believe the airmen raised enough objections and that idiotic blue tiger-stripped uniform was dropped after trials. I think the new one is similar to (or based off of) the new Army uniform.

Hmmmm...two thumbs down on ACUs.
Zippers have no place on a combat uniform.
Velcro has no place in a place with as much dust/dirt as our current playgrounds. Or when trying to be quiet in the dead of night... "Hey, LT. Where are we?" "Dunno, Sarge. Let me check the map...." RIIIIIIIIIIP.
A uniform this fragile and poorly fabricated has no place in a profession as demanding as the Army.
A uniform that can be washed in only a handful of detergents available on the shelves of your local Walmart...has no place in Haji's laundry shop!
There are some good things about it. Like the storage and gadget pockets...hate the rest. Glad I'm too old to have to wear them again!
See you on the high ground.
