Ralph's article was spot-on! That's exactly the way things are in the AF (and I'm in the AF).

I'm retired Air Force and the article was absolutely correct. We need C-130s (Hs or Js I don't care) and C-17s, not new fighters. I was in SAC, not MAC, but anyone that looks at daily mission requirements and see what is needed NOW.

The cartoon was cute ... good-natured inter-service rivalry is always fun! But, what Ralph Peters does not know about the Air Force and joint force employment could more than fill all of his military fantasy novels. Peters, who likes to promote himself as an "Intelligence Officer" which he never was, is a classic example of old school, myopic thinking about force employment, and that is most likely the reason the Army retired him shortly after promoting him to Lt. Colonel.
Reading his psuedo-intellectual pontifications on military strategy is nearly as embarassing as seeing a photo of him wearing a Speedo swimsuit.
