An earlier post mentioned this long-lost cartoon from the pre-internet days, and Mudville readers were quick to respond to my request for a copy. Thanks to all who sent one or emailed a link.
By the way, most folks who knew of this or had a copy were Air Force.
Now for a bit of Air Force trivia.
The greatest threat confronting the U.S. Air Force today is:
C. Ralph Peters
Answer: I don't know.
Ralph's article was spot-on! That's exactly the way things are in the AF (and I'm in the AF).Posted by thebronze at April 17, 2005 04:57 PM
I'm retired Air Force and the article was absolutely correct. We need C-130s (Hs or Js I don't care) and C-17s, not new fighters. I was in SAC, not MAC, but anyone that looks at daily mission requirements and see what is needed NOW.Posted by Bob at April 18, 2005 12:35 AM
The cartoon was cute ... good-natured inter-service rivalry is always fun! But, what Ralph Peters does not know about the Air Force and joint force employment could more than fill all of his military fantasy novels. Peters, who likes to promote himself as an "Intelligence Officer" which he never was, is a classic example of old school, myopic thinking about force employment, and that is most likely the reason the Army retired him shortly after promoting him to Lt. Colonel.
Reading his psuedo-intellectual pontifications on military strategy is nearly as embarassing as seeing a photo of him wearing a Speedo swimsuit.Posted by Fightin at April 19, 2005 07:38 PM Hide Comments | Show/Add Comments in Popup Window(3) | (Note: You must refresh main page to view newly posted comments here)
