In consideration for some of us who are still stuck [at least in some computing locations] in the paleolithic age of the Internet i.e. "dialup" connections, wonder if you could work on the load time. It's taking me 3-4 minutes to load....and a minute or two before any text is visible.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

Is it any faster now?

Much better. Thanks.

Much better...usually I open three blogs while I'm reading another, but this one came up quickly (28.8 dial-up, darned AZ phone company)!
I really dig your new banner!

Love your blog but didn't read it as often when you were in Iraq because of the slow load time on our antiquated dial-up. To be honest, it took about 30 minutes for me to get everything (pictures). If it seems faster tomorrow, I'll let you know.
Thank you, thank you for your service and for such a terrific blog.

With my dial-up Explorer takes forever because it has to load almost the entire page before it shows, it may have been like this before tho. With Firefox it loads good. I have to say I enjoyed the old pop-up window when making comments. Also as a suggestion when clicking on the comments link, allow the left click instead of forcing a right to the menu and then clicking open or new window.
Have you thought about changing it to "Mugville" ;-)
It looks nice.

Trackback worked great. I use Haloscan and it took the ping with no problems.

Ric has a great story at his site. See trackback link above.

My blog says the trackback went through but it's not showing up.

I was wondering why people post their trackback url, the cgi bin etc. What purpose does that serve?

What's this: http://www.optruth.org/main.cfm? Are they commies?

It loads faster. I have dial up, a sloowwww 28,800 dialup, and this came up much faster. Front page that is, not comments.

Really fast now on DSL. Used to have about a 30 sec hang-up but not now. I haven't scrolled the whole page yet so I'll check that out. Had to do the tap dance when I scrolled down to the clocks. I'll check it out.
Update: nope! still hangin' up on smooth scroll by the clocks but not a big deal. Have to tap through it. Could just be my old computer also.
The download speed is a vast improvement!
Uh, what's in the mugs? :-o

LOL Eason.
I changed the CNN link under News Sites on my blog to read "CNN Alternative".
The target is a different site, too. Check it out for a chuckle. I'm thinking of changing CNN Alternative to Fomerly CNN.
Much faster (no delay, as it should be w/broadband access) and very slick banner, Mr & Mrs. G.

here is the error message I get:

I'm on dial-up at home (53K) and it loads very fast, about 30 seconds, except the ads, but they are faster as well.
Thanks for keeping the option for comments in a separate window. It's very useful on a long post to be able to see the body of the post while commenting.
OT: Fox is on in the living-room and I think they just said Saddam's half (or step?) brother has been captured.

I had no problem with the trackback. The loading time is still a bit slow though with IE6 and 46k dialup. Little over a minute. But this has never stopped me from visiting your blog.

Retread, about Saddam's relative being captured - I believe it is his half-brother. YeeHaw!
Love DSL, takes about 30 seconds to get you.
