My Democratic friend wanted my opinion on the incident re: the marine shooting the injured Iraqi.
She said (trying to use religion against me)
"what would Jesus do?" This man commited murder.
Well, my reply was Jesus would not have shot him, however Jesus would forgive him for doing so.
Also, my neighbor - Pete is an Indianapolis Police Officer who was involved in a citizen shooting in August of this year. One police officer lost his life and 3 others (including Pete) were shot.
Pete advanced against this injured citizen and in Pete's words "terminated the situation".
Yes - he shot and killed this deranged criminal and my point is - it has been 3 months and he is not back on the force.
So why is IPD more able to accomodate this officer who does not need to be in "battle"
yet? Pete is an ex marine and 41 years old - He has years of experience on the police force and he is not back in combat.
We need to look at the system that allowed this young man to go back in after seeing his buddy killed and being injured himself. Am I missing something?
Jesus forgives this young man and does not pass judgment - we all need to do the same!

An additional comment that I forgot to add.
My friend thinks soldier should be court-martialed - luckily she will not be part of this decision.
My question to her was how can John Kerry shoot an enemy in the back and still run for President?
Her comment was - John Kerry was in battle and this young man was on recognizance (spelling?)
Is anyone on recognizance while in Fallujah?
