Looks like VC the Wonder Dog, back from a secret mission to Cambodia.

Look at that brand-new, still-stiff boonie hat!
A bit of care advice: your hat will quickly get soiled and sweat-stained in the desert heat. I washed mine twice a week in the sink, using shampoo with conditioner, then let it line dry in the dry desert air.
It was always nice and clean and soft. Take your small luxuries where you can get them.

And wearing his magic hat!
Are his tags taped up? Kerry informed Laura Blumenfeld of the WaPo that while on his secret missions he taped up his dog tags to prevent them from making noise.

GH:
I already knew the answer. It was late (or early) and I was field goofy from lack of sleep. It just seemed funny - now I am not so sure why. :)

We need to be like Labs. Labadors, as a breed, are great with children and wonderful companions, but have you ever seen a lab in full defense mode. Two of the gentlest dogs in world saved my sister from a rape and me from getting shot (separate occasions). As a country we need to be kind to friends, growl warnings to the stupid and fly headlong into the fray, teeth bared to rend those who would kill children. Peace to the souls of those murdered in Beslan. "Suffer unto me the little children..."

I miss my old boonie dog RIKO - he was the undisputed master and terror of this half of our village, against man and beast alike if not part of our family or not known to him. Our neighbors like him because his meanness to strangers was a real deterrent against any thieves or delinquent juveniles. RIKO had one quirk which I could never properly explain - when I make dog sounds/calls or barking, its OUR CAT WHO RESPONDS; when I MEOW RIKO RESPONDS! My new dog should work for VICTORIA'S SECRET OR A MODELING AGENCY - he's just as lovable as RIKO could be BUT his idea of protecting our property is to show people how pretty his ass is or walk like he's on a models' runway! His quirk is that when stray dogs are around, he only barks at them ONLY WHEN I OR ANOTHER MEMBER OF THE FAMILY COMES OUT TO CHECK! GO INSIDE THE HOUSE - NOTHING!
