I don't know what your point of view is on Rumsfeld, but I think he's been an outstanding SECDEF. Forget that under his leadership, our military has won two wars and liberated around 50 million people. Just on the basis of the organizational changes he has made, Rumsfeld is one of the best ever. He stopped that white elephant artillery piece the Army wanted, he pushed through the Stryker formations, and the independent brigades are largely his responsibility as well.
And the most important thing?
He got out troops out of the DMZ in Korea. He has gotten us out of our Cold War mindset, full of static defenses, and set us up with a military that is flexible and capable of offensive action in more places than when he took over from that retard Cohen.
Kerry is an idiot calling for his resignation, and in doing so shows his fundamental lack of seriousness in the war on terror. I mean, come on -- removing a sitting Secretary of Defense in the absence of a real scandal, while that Secretary is running two war/nation building efforts? How many troops will Kerry sacrifice with his vanity?
