Greetings! You are reading an article from The Mudville Gazette. To reach the front page, with all the latest news and views, click the logo above or "main" below. Thanks for stopping by! April 14, 2009 Beware the gruntBy GreyhawkFor the record, I remain gruntled. But this is disturbing: The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in "rightwing extremist activity," saying the economic recession, the election of America's first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans could swell the ranks of white-power militias. Here's one example from the government report of what might be happening, maybe: DHS/I&A assesses that rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat. These skills and knowledge have the potential to boost the capabilities of extremists--including lone wolves or small terrorist cells--to carry out violence. The willingness of a small percentage of military personnel to join extremist groups during the 1990s because they were disgruntled, disillusioned, or suffering from the psychological effects of war is being replicated today. The Vet Threat, from the mind of Janet Napolitano: ![]() Trautman: Look John, we can't have you running around out there killing friendly civilians. Rambo: There are no friendly civilians! By the way, I'll be going to the tea party protest in Savannah tomorrow. If you're in the area, please don't stay away out of fear - the only thing I'll have to shoot people with is my camera. More - let's get the 'enemies list' started: Afghan vet Bouhammer: The government says I am domestic terrorist threat? The Mudville Gazette is the on-line voice of an American warrior and his wife who stands by him. They prefer to see peaceful change render force of arms unnecessary. Until that day they stand fast with those who struggle for freedom, strike for reason, and pray for a better tomorrow.

That report is disturbing at best. It's also going to push the conspiracy theorists right over into full-blown paranoia. The scary thing is, for once I don't see how one could logically talk them out of it.
Apparently the American Legion was rather irked by this report

Unf'cking believable....
A much needed belly laugh, today, at the Rambo quote. Rambo: There are no friendly civilians!
Gotta love that.
Seems like George Washington was a disgruntled vet wasn't he?
