December 28, 2004 More Rumsfeld in IraqBy GreyhawkDonald Sensing has an email from the front on Rumsfeld in Iraq. I don't think there's ever been another SecDef that meant as much to the troops as Rumsfeld, there's an unprecedented bond between the man and the troops. It stems from mutual respect, grows from the real feeling of brotherhood of war that most military members feel at this time in history, and is strengthened by the us against them mentality that the media is fueling with their war on our boss. The Mudville Gazette is the on-line voice of an American warrior and his wife who stands by him. They prefer to see peaceful change render force of arms unnecessary. Until that day they stand fast with those who struggle for freedom, strike for reason, and pray for a better tomorrow.

I think it deserves repeating that Sec Rumsfeld's actions on 9/11 is reason enough to consider him an actual fellow soldier rather than just another poliitical appointee.
Greyhawk,
I find it amusing that reporters talk so much about all the officers and Pentagon people who dislike Rumsfeld's bluntness, say he's rude, whatever, but never mention that these are a lot of the same people who supported the Commanche and Crusader programs.
He's made some hard choices... but does anyone think we need high tech helos and artillery pieces in Iraq?

I ve received several emails from deployed soldiers I write to weekly. One soldier was thrilled to have been able to meet and briefly chat Sec Def Rumsfeld, and the others talked of the excitement and buzz surrounding this suprise visit.ALL of them shared with me how touched and honored they felt that this man who they respect greatly decided to spend Christmas with them!
I have to admit I was upset at his remark earlier this month..I felt he was too harsh.
However his surprise visit at Christmas redeemed him in my eyes and in my heart!
But how I feel isnt relevant, what matters the most is how our troups felt. From the uncut video that I saw, it was clear that our deployed men and women were thrilled, touched, and downright excited by his surprise visit at Christmas, and his acknowledgement of their sacrifices and their place in history!

Navy pilot, Naval Reserve Captain (ret). Don Rumsfeld has walked the walk and can talk the talk. In my experience troops can spot phony from 100 yards and their respect speaks volumes.
Most of his critics in the Puzzle Palace had their rice bowls turned over. Sure, he's made mistakes - but then they have been mistakes of commission, not omission. Somewhere someone told him to "lead, follow or get out of the way" -- and he chose to lead.
I completey agree that Rumsfield is a leader. And I agree with that philosophy of leaders are going to make mistakes, and it is acceptable.

One can ask no higher honor than to share Rumsfeld's enemies. Without exception, every one of his critics has been an excrable swine.
Is this Mrs. Greyhawk? I was just over at Blackfive, and I heard that Greyhawk is having trouble with his ISP or whatever letters they are (hehehe.) Either way, I pray for your whole family: God, watch over them, hold them close in you heart, keep them safe, and grant them victory over this war and all evil. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
Happy New Year. I hope your blog is ok. I too support Sec.Rumsfeld and our troops. God bless all of you.
